This Forum brings together internationally recognized speakers to present “simple solutions” to pet over-population that every community can implement. Studies have proven that spay/neuter is the single most successful method of stabilizing and eventually reversing the pet-overpopulation problem with the least possible cost to local governments and residents, while providing the best life for the animals themselves.
Give Some Life believes that free and low cost spaying and neutering programs combined with the rippling education effect is the best long term solution for the problem of unwanted and suffering animals in the street.
It takes a cooperative partnership of the entire community to solve pet over-population. Participants will leave the Forum with invaluable information on how to implement low cost spay neuter programs. Workshops will allow hands on interaction with some of the pioneers in the animal welfare community. We will demonstrate how humanely controlling pet over-population will also address many public health concerns.

Dog pounds and the killing of homeless animals has proven to be ineffective at diminishing the problem. The population of dogs and cats in Latin America currently exceeds the capacity of our society to care and provide homes for them as companion animals. As a result, millions do not have homes and are killed annually by the dog pounds. Those remaining on the streets become victims of trauma, starvation, or disease.
Spaying and neutering an animal reduces the risk that it will contribute to shelter euthanasia in many ways: intact animals are more likely to roam and get lost, intact animals are more likely to be given up by their owners due to behavior problems, and of course unwanted offspring directly contribute to overpopulation.
